After a few weeks of hard work, we have a lot of exciting things to tell you. We’ve done so much on the interior of the hostel, there is hardly anything left of the state we found it in. We are also delighted that we are already receiving a lot of bookings. Hostel The Golden Stork is opening on June 1st, so be quick an book you stay now!
There is also news about coffee, beer and breakfast: three of the most important things in life. Luckily, they will all be taken excellent care of for the visitors of hostel The Golden Stork. Finally, we have the first images of the dorms with beds. The rooms are not completely done yet, but the images will give you a good first impression of what to expect.
We’ve made five rooms in our building at Bierkade 22. They all have floor heating and a power socket with a light at each bed. We are putting the beds together as we speak, on the basis of specially made drawings. The wooden frames are rock solid. So you won’t be disturbed by any cracks or wobbling when your fellow traveller on the bed above you is turning over.
For our coffee we are collaborating with Wings and Roots. A local company that combines high quality coffee with sustainable entrepreneurship. Together with their customers they support several NGOs. The price they pay for their beans is fair and they roast the coffee themselves. As for the quality, it is better let them explain it:
“This specialty coffee blend is made from 100% Arabica beans custom-blended for a unique flavour that reflects notes of chocolate, sweet spices and citrus fruit, with a delightful complex body and crisp finish. Only the ripest coffee beans are hand-picked in a labour intensive process. That care together with the tropical climate, volcanic soil and altitude where our coffee grows all go into creating beans of the highest quality.”
Not really into coffee? We also serve a variety of sodas and (fresh) teas. Of course, we also have some delicious cakes and pies to go with it.
Together with Van Alsem, the best wholesaler in the region, we are working to create a beer menu. We will of course have a selection of special beers. Brands like Palm, La Chouffe, Duvel, Desperados, Gebrouwen door vrouwen, Jopen, together with several seasonal beers from Dutch breweries will be adorning the bar of hostel The Golden Stork. Just looking for a fresh and cold beer? We’ll be taking care of that too.
Well begun is half done. Thanks to Vlinder, a local bakery, we’ll be serving our guests a luxury breakfast buffet every morning. For 4,50 per person, you can choose from a variety of breads and croissants. The biological bread will always be fresh and there is yoghurt, all kinds of toppings and of course a nice cup of coffee. In other words, we’ll make sure that you’ll be ready for a long day of discovering The Hague.
Everybody will be able to come to see the final results after the first of June, but as usual, we have some images of the progress we made. As you can see: it took one of the owners, Dennis, only a few moments to fall asleep on one of the luxury mattresses. We think that’s very promising!
The next update will follow soon and if you have any questions in the meantime, please don’t hesitate to send us a message via firstname.lastname@example.org. And don’t forget to book you stay. We are opening on soon and hope to see you all there. It’s going to be a wonderful summer here in The Hague with hostel The Golden Stork.
