Hostel The Golden Stork is open! From today you can finally spend the night at Bierkade 22 in The Hague. We’ve done so much over the past two weeks, that it’ll never fit in a single blogpost. Most of all, we are just very happy that we can welcome our first guests. They will arrive later today! In our very first weekend we’re almost fully booked, so that will be a nice test for the hostel and our staff.
But first we did have to clean a bit after the wonderful opening night (which is of course a good sign) and we would like to thank everybody who was there. All the builders, investors, advisors, family, friends and neighbours who’ve helped over the past months: without them we would never have finished on time.
The first visitors could enjoy beers provided by Van Alsem, while Wings and Roots was there too to serve their great coffee from a lovely mobile coffee bar. We have also received quite some attention from the press thanks to Henriëtte Bokslag from Bureau Bokslag. Among other things, that has resulted in an interview with Dennis on Den Haag FM and a large article in the AD newspaper. Listen to the interview here and read the article in the gallery below.
The other eye catchers at the opening were the mural made by Afke Kuyper at our entrance on the Spui-side of the hostel and the bar built by Pieter Wezenbeek. We’re very proud of both and in the gallery below you can admire them too. Stay tuned for the rest of the images that will appear on the website, as we can now finally let the photographer take some promotional pictures.
However, it is of course even nicer to visit the hostel yourself. You’re always welcome for a cup of coffee or another drink. But the people who want the real The Hague experience of course stay in The Golden Stork for the night. Book your stay here! And if you have any other questions, just send us email at firstname.lastname@example.org or contact us on facebook.com/thegoldenstork.
