We have just had all the Christmas and New Year’s activities. Even during travels, chances are you feel like everything has started it’s usual routine again. Time for some fun! We have listed some things that we think are worthwhile visiting and exploring this month, while you are stopping by The Hague during your travels.
Go on a date
Really? Well, it’s Februari so it is coming up: Valentines day. The V-word is hated and loved all over the world and don’t worry, we won’t bore you with the lovey dovey stuff for just you and a plus one. Whether you are visiting The Hague with your partner, you want to meet up with a Tinder date and do something different than ‘Netflix and chill’, or just want to hang out with your mates: check out the following tips.
The what? The reuzenrad aka the ferris wheel at the beach. This wheel is over 40 meters high so the views of the sea, the beach and the city of Scheveningen are amazing. Don’t worry about the Dutch weather, the gondolas are closed and air conditioned. Take your date on a romantic beach walk, a drink on the pier and a ‘reuzenrad’ ride (the ride is 9 Euro’s per person). You could also make some new friends at our bar and go for a family ticket for the ferris wheel for just 24 Euro’s.
Dance the night away in one of the venues in town! There are special Valentines parties around The Hague on Valentines day, such as the rooftop club at Bink36 or a secret Valentine’s party in Club Westwood. There are rock concerts or just bar nights too, and you can always ask our receptionists and staff for advice on where to go (they might join..!).
Why don’t you treat yourself (or your Valentine) on some seriously delicious chocolate from Hop & Stork. They do lunches and coffee too! Looking for an easy going spot for dinner and drinks, check out the oldest café that serves food as well: Van Beek, just a 10 minute walk from the hostel!
Chinese new year
Saturday 9 February at the The Hague city hall (just around the corner from the hostel) the Chinese new year will be celebrated. There will be activities throughout the city, including a market, dance shows and fireworks. Have a look and celebrate: there are no entree fees!
Of course you are always welcome to hang out here at the bar with your roomies or travel mates! What’s going on in The Golden Stork? Check out our Instagram and Facebook page for the latest updates. There will be game nights, beer tastings and coffee happy hours and we are working on organizing a weekly pubcrawl! See you soon!!
Ps. Really hating Valentines day? See if you can catch up with the travelling Museum of Broken Relationships during your trips around the world or have a giggle at the entries on their website 😉
